Where Everyone Belongs and Purpose Grows

The Upside is more than a place — it’s a vision of community, belonging, and joy for adults with special needs and the families who love them.

Before our farm takes root, we’re beginning with something beautiful:…our first Hope Night!

Join Us for Our First Hope Night!

Our Family

We’re the Ostrand family — Karl and Julie, along with our five wonderful kids.

The Upside Farm is still a dream — one that began in our hearts and is now taking its very first step with Hope Nights.

Our vision is to one day create a place in Omaha, Nebraska, where adults with special needs can find purpose, community, and belonging. A place where joy is cultivated, friendships grow, and every person is celebrated for who they are.

This dream is especially close to our hearts because of our daughter Emme, our 17-year-old who has Down syndrome and autism.

Emme’s laughter, love, and light have shaped how we see the world — and inspired us to build something that reflects her beauty, strength, and joy.

Hope Nights are the beginning of that dream — a simple, joy-filled space where adults with special needs can come together, have fun, and be reminded they belong.

We believe this is just the start of something beautiful. 🌱
